Monday night gaming

Well, tonight was the first time our gaming group has gotten together for about three or four weeks. Monday is our usual play night, and I intend on keeping everyone up to date with what goes on.

Right now our group consists of me, MrsKheldar, RaNae (our teenaged friend from church), and two guys and one gal from my work. We all meet at my workplace, and MrsKheldar usually brings food for everyone. We've been playing for something over two years now, usually once a week, although sporadic at times due to scheduling problems. We've been playing a supers game set during World War II time period.

Having just finished up our last adventure prior to Christmas, we decide it was time to put the old campaign to rest for now (who knows, perhaps we'll pick it up again sometime) and start into something new. So, we spent a portion of the night talking about what we wanted to play.

Due to scheduling, we won't play next week. However, the week after that, we're going to do a one night game of Og. Og is a game where everyone plays a caveman. You have a limited vocabulary of around 6 words. Those are the only words you are allowed to speak. That should be entertaining. Tongue

After that we're going to start up a game set in the Firefly universe. For those who aren't familiar with the TV show, this is essentially a western in space. We had a good discussion about the background for the characters and what kind of game we wanted. That was all pretty good stuff. So, now I've got a couple weeks to get something ready for that.

After we got done with that discussion and dinner, we played a game of Power Grid. This was a pretty cool game. Very much along the lines of Settlers of Catan, but you are building and running power plants and trying to power as many cities as you can. It's got some nice features, and some interesting mechanics. Definitely worth checking out.

That was pretty much it. Tune in again in two weeks to see how Og goes.

MrsKheldar and I agreed that you guys would probably really enjoy Power Grid.
