Wiiiiiiiiii!!!

Today two different people brought their Wiis (is that plural for Wii?) to work ( and one other guy). For those of you who don't know, the Wii is the current generation console gaming system that replaces the Nintendo GameCube (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). It's major feature is easy accessibility for people of any age or with any experience in gaming. In particular, their controller is a major break from all other game systems of the past. It's not a joystick, not a typical console control, but instead it's a motion sensitive wand with just a couple buttons used for giving commands (usually only two buttons at most are used for games).

Anyway, so of course I had to spend some time checking it out.

Wow!

The Wii ships with a set of sports games that take serious advantage of the motion-sensitive capabilities of the controller. They have a boxing game, baseball game, golf game, tennis game and bowling game. The tennis game is absolutely outstanding, and the bowling game is also very fun. (I didn't really care for the boxing, and the baseball was kind of ... eh). I didn't play the golf game much, but it seems fairly interesting too.

I had sooooo much fun that I almost feel like going out and buying a Wii for us. I suspect Mrs. Kheldar would enjoy playing too, since (as advertised) it is VERY accessible for the more casual non-gamer.

Someone hold me back. I don't really feel like spending $300 right now...
