Golden Anvil

27th Granite, 252 (early spring) - We made it through the winter! Adviga was so happy that she organized a party. Attendance was a little low because everyone was busy with various projects. There wasn't any snow this winter, so Forest was able to continue collecting plants from outside all season. We've made great progress on expanding the fort. I'll draw some sketches later.

Oh yes, I also learned recently that Optiker and Moth have grown very attached. I would not be surprised to hear of them wedding soon. BeyondZion and Adviga likewise spent a lot of time together over the winter.

20th Slate, 252 (mid-spring) - Apparently the merchants spread the news of the initial success of our fortress. Today 19 new dwarves arrived to join us! I'm stunned. We're going to have to find a place to keep them all. I think it's also time to take another look at everyone's job assignments. I'll have to do that later. We've more than double our population, so there's just so much going on. Here's the list of newcomers and their claimed professions.

Here are the promised sketches as well. The first features the ground level. You can see that we've expanded our walls a bit and created a bridge across the river. The large structure near James is the trade depot. You'll notice statues outside the gates. I included a description of my favorite one.

The next one is where our current hospital, kitchens, food storage, and dining hall is located. It's expanded quite a lot since last time I described it. You can see right now that everyone is attending a party for the new dwarves. Off to the left side we have an area set up for working with leather and cloth. I'm sure that will be needed soon.

The next level down is our smithing facilities. We have a variety of crafting stations for working with metal and stone here. Optiker is standing in our gem stockpile. Just above him is the gem crafting station. We'll use that more later to really enhance some of our crafts.

The final level is our new living area. It's almost completed. I wasn't expecting all the newcomers, so we'll probably have to expand a little bit. A couple of the bedrooms have already been claimed. I'm also planning a large dining hall on this level, but I'll probably expand that as well.
