It's that time of year...

Welcome to another long post. I guess that's what happens when I haven't updated regularly for a while...

Today I took the motorcycle in to work. Oh joy, oh bliss! It was a little on the cool side (about 46 degrees I think), but I bundled up with a scarf, and was pretty much fine. Of course a pair of chaps and heated handles would be nice, but... Anyway, I accidentally forgot something that happened to me last spring too. See, when the bike's been sitting all winter, some condensation tends to collect in the gas (hence why you're really supposed to drain the tank in the fall, but I'm lazy). Anyway, so ideally you should gas up in the spring and then let the motorcycle run for a little while to work that "bad" gas through the system (or put in an additive that gets rid of the water). So, I forgot to do that, and sure enough, twice on the way to work the bike died, and I had to coast off to the side of the road and let it sit for a few minutes before I could get it started again. Fortunately, after that everything ran just fine, and I had a wonderful ride to and from work.

Maybe next year I'll remember to take care of the gas properly. At least this last fall I remembered to hook the bike up to the charger for the winter, so my battery didn't go completely flat. That happened the year before, and I had to replace the battery. I learned my lesson.

Talking about the motorcycle reminds me that in my last post I forgot to talk about my recent "fun" with my car. I got back from vacation, and after sitting for about 5 days or so, the battery was completely dead. At this point I'm not sure if I've just got an electrical drain or if I accidentally left something on. Of course I discovered this when I was going to leave for work, so I had to borrow my wife's car for two days until the weekend. Fortunately, while the battery was shot (that became obvious when I was unable to get the car jump-started), it was still under warranty from Les Schwab (barely), so I was able to replace it for only $13. I'd rather not have had to mess with that, but at least it wasn't too expensive.

In other news, I went in for my final appointment with the chiropractor this morning. My back is pretty much fine except for occasional twinges. He gave me a bunch of stretches and exercises to do, so now I've started on those. Hopefully those will help stop this back thing from happening (this wasn't the first time I've dealt with it).

Finally, I found a rather curious game today. Go check it out. Plasma Pong is kind of like Pong, except you make use of a fluid dynamics system to try and shove the puck past the other guy's paddle. You can play one player or two player, or mess around with their fluid engine in a sandbox mode. This is actually a pretty fun little game, and it looks really, really cool!

Well, that's enough for now. I've really got to get off and take care of a couple things on the seven day roguelike challenge before I head to bed.
