Another long delay since I last posted. It's been a pretty rough week. We had another round of crunch time at work (we managed to get the beta out the door). Then I spent about 11 hours on Friday working on the seven day roguelike challenge with gauntman (that went pretty well, although we didn't make quite as much progress as we'd like). Saturday got all taken up with various errands and such.
However, today went pretty well, and I'm feeling a good deal refreshed.
Yesterday we did manage to buy a brand new $300 recumbent exercise bike for only $6. That's because we had a gift certificate from RC Wiley's that we'd planned on putting towards a crib. However, it turns out that they're no longer carrying cribs. So, we looked over their whole web site for something we could spend our "free money" on, and ended up picking out the exercise bike. We still need a crib of course, but at least we'll be in better shape when the adoption eventually goes through...
I also took my motorcycle down to get a safety inspection yesterday (so I can get it relicensed for this year). Unfortunately, there were a couple minor problems that need taken care of before it'll pass inspection. Of course, every motorcycle shop is very busy right now, since it's spring, and everyone is getting their bikes (and 4 wheelers, and scooters, and... etc) back in working condition. So, that means that I won't have my bike for probably about a week.
In other good news, today at church I went around finding out who wants to order the books for the "Learning Greek" small group that I'll be leading. It looks like we'll have about 8 people, possibly more. That's pretty exciting! We'll start meeting in April, and everyone seems pretty excited about it.
Hmm... Oh yeah... Since I haven't been playing Vanguard, I wasn't able to resist it when I spotted a really good deal the other day on some games I've had my eye on. One was for STALKER at normal price with Quake 4 thrown in for free. I'd already planned on buying the first, and the second has been on my list for a while, so that just seemed like a natural fit. The other was (oddly enough for me) the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator. I've always been a little interested in the flight simulators, but never really felt like there was enough game there to keep me interested. Well the latest version introduces "missions" that actually look kind of neat. So, when I saw that I could pick up the deluxe edition for about 45% off the normal price, I couldn't pass that up. All that being said, it might be a while before I get back to Vanguard. Oh well. I guess that gives them the chance to do a little patching up.
Well, I'm sure there's other things I could ramble on about, but I've got to run off and make sure I'm prepared for gaming tomorrow night. I'm expecting this week to be a little more settled down, so expect to hear from me again relatively soon.
