BodyWorlds

Yesterday MrsKheldar and I wen to visit the BodyWorlds exhibit here in Salt Lake. Unfortunately, you aren't allowed to take pictures, but I did find a few on their website here which may give you a little better idea of what the exhibit is about.

This was an absolutely amazing experience. We took 2.5 hours to wander through the exhibit (they suggest that most people take about 90 minutes). The human body is an incredible thing!

Some of the highlights included getting to see exactly how a hip replacement works and looks. Now I know exactly what's going on inside Mom! It's definitely different then I'd imagined, and yet, seems relatively straightforward. We also got to see some examples of the stent that was put in MrsKheldars leg after her blood clot, and got to see some examples of a hole in the heart between the two sides like I've got.

Some of the more impressive things were the blood vessel networks made by filling the vessels with a liguid which sets up and then they remove all the organics stuff from around them, leaving the vessel network behind. You can see some pictures of that on the page I referenced above.

Was it gross? Not really. The sense of fascination really overcame much of any sense of it being gross. It was totally worth going and seeing.

...of course, I've found myself looking at people differently now... Laughing

Re: BodyWorlds

Sounds really neat!  I'll have to check out the link!

Hey, I didn't know you had a hole in your heart!  When did you find that out?

Re: BodyWorlds

Oops! Guess I forgot to mention it. Guess I'll include it in a post I've been meaning to do sometime soon about my health. It turns out it's nothing concerning, and may not even apply to the issues I've been having. More later...

Re: BodyWorlds

Oh, oops!  :)  Yeah, I'd love to hear an update on your health issues.  I'm glad to hear the heart thing is not a concern . . . but fill us in a little more, please!

Re: BodyWorlds

Kheldar and I had a fantastic time at BodyWorlds! In each and every area, God's imprint was evident -  from the tiniest bones in our ears, to the amazing way all our organs are tucked inside our bodies, to the teeny tiny blood vessels that weave their way through our bodies.

For me, the most memorable area was the fetal development area. To look at a child at the 5-6 week mark was amazing. Having lost three children at that stage in development, I could barely pull myself away to look at the rest of the exhibits!

After the event we went to a pizza shop downtown, and went shopping for our Christmas gift/stocking stuffers together. No surprises this year...but we had a whole lot of fun being together.

We are certainly glad we went. If the exhibit comes to an area near you - go! It's totally worth it.

I'd love to see that some time.  I've heard it's quite fascinating.
