Well, I can't play Vanguard because they've shut down the servers prior to starting them up on Friday for the pre-order people. I'm just in one of those moods where I don't feel like doing anything. Guess I'll go read in bed (though 6:30 seems awfully early for that).

Ok, I'd better stop letting myself get distracted and write up my impressions of Vanguard so far. As my credentials, here's a list of the MMORPGs I've played: City of Heroes/Villains, World of Warcraft, EVE Online, Ryzom, Auto Assault, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Guild Wars. Ryzom I've only played the demo, and AA, LOTRO, and DDO I've only played the beta.
Vanguard is doing some rather interesting things. They've spent the second largest amount of money in development (World of Warcraft being first) out of all MMORPGs. It's been in development for over five years. This means that their world is huge, and the areas I've seen so far are very nice looking. They are going for a much more realistic visual appearance than WoW did, and the results are some rather impressive looking terrain.

I found out a good bit about the game Vanguard today. It's an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) that should be releasing in another month or so. Wow, there is some really sweet looking stuff in there.
I couldn't resist. I went out and pre-ordered the game. That allows me to play in the beta. So, now I'm installing everything. Should be done patching up in about... err... 8 hours.
I think I feel a sore throat coming on... gonna have to stay home from work tomorrow...
Actually, I probably will work from home, but I'll get my work done first and play after. It's just that I won't have to waste an hour and a half of my day driving around in the car...
Gauntman picked it up too, so perhaps we'll play around with it a bit...

Today two different people brought their Wiis (is that plural for Wii?) to work ( and one other guy). For those of you who don't know, the Wii is the current generation console gaming system that replaces the Nintendo GameCube (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). It's major feature is easy accessibility for people of any age or with any experience in gaming. In particular, their controller is a major break from all other game systems of the past. It's not a joystick, not a typical console control, but instead it's a motion sensitive wand with just a couple buttons used for giving commands (usually only two buttons at most are used for games).
Anyway, so of course I had to spend some time checking it out.
Wow!

Well, I was intending to post yesterday (I think I'd like to average posting every other day), but unfortunately I got a little bit distracted. I brought gauntman home with me from work yesterday and we played Guild Wars: Factions until a bit after 10:00. Then of course I had to drive him home. By the time I got back, I wasn't exactly feeling up to posting by the time I got home.
It's actually kind of funny, because I'd purchased Guild Wars: Prophecies and Guild Wars: Factions and played both with gauntman, but was never able to really get into playing it on my own. So, I wasn't really going to bother picking up the new Guild Wars: Nightfall, because it didn't look like I'd have much chance to play it with gauntman. I figured I wouldn't get my money's worth out of the game.
